The Valley

South Struma Valley panorama

The South Struma Valley is the southern part of the valley that goes from the Sofia area in an almost straight southern direction, passing the mountain massifs of Rila and Pirin in the east and the Maleshevska mountains in the east. Between Blagojevgrad, the administrative capital of the province, and the municipality of Kresna, the river Struma passes through a narrow gorge, opening up to a wide and fertile valley that leads to the Bulgarian-Greek border.

From the border to the Greek Mediterranean beaches there is a distance of approximately 60 kilometres in a straight line.

The Google map is centered on the valley.
