Real estate agents

In Bulgaria, as in many other countries, one does not need a licence to call one self a real estate agent or builder; no company, no registration, no office or any capital that serves as a guarantee.

One must always get a proper receipt for any money paid. One should only pay a deposit of maximum 10 % on purchasing a property by a private contract. If you are dealing with someone else that the owner, demand a proper power of attorney. A builder should not be paid in advance, but in accordance with agreed stages of completing the works.
